Join us on an adventure to Ireland, where we will step back in time exploring castles, abbeys, cathedrals, and structures dating back hundreds of years. We will explore both the ancient relics and old time traditions as well as the contemporary culture and cities of Ireland. We look forward opening our minds, opening our sketchbooks, and setting out on a creative journey together!
Our six-day / five-night journey will challenge creatives to explore, expand and express themselves amongst the dramatic backdrop of Ireland's many wonders as we draw and converse together.
• Daily excursions and admission to castles, ruins, and local attractions
• Ferry ride and hiking around the Saltee Island -- a puffin and bird haven off the southern coast
• Admission to the Ailwee Caves & Bird's Of Prey and The Burren Perfumery
• Visit to the Rock of Cashel Castle and Church Ruins
• Set Dancing in Kilfenora's traditional Irish pub
• Trying a variety of local cuisine at family farms, pubs, and restaurants
• Sketching at the beautiful Cliffs of Moher and nearby town of Doolin
• Exploring the cities and culture of Cork, Kilkenny, Limerick, and Galway
AND OF COURSE... Plenty of time for creative conversation, sketching the gorgeous surroundings, and tons of LGAL led activities!
Arrangements will be made to pick up all participants from the Dublin Airport and we'll head south through the Irish countryside - a scenic drive that passes many nature reserves, national parks, castles, vikings ruins, and traditional cottages. We will make our way to Kilkenny, where we will have a chance to visit Black Abbey, Kilkenny Castle, cathedrals and explore the town center. We will spend the afternoon sketching old houses and tasting local food in Butter Slip Alley!
We will then make our way to Wexford, Ireland, to our contemporary Irish house to serve as our home base for the next two days. Nestled in a farming community near the Hook Peninsula, Black Castle, Magic Road, and several other beautiful locations, we'll have time to sketch, explore, and get to know one another as we kick off the first night with creative workshops and board games!
We'll wake up early and head to breakfast the town of Wexford. Throughout our journey, we will be stopping at some of the traditional pubs and local eateries to try some of the local dishes as well as participate in the pub culture.
We will spend the day hiking around the beautiful Saltee Islands! Located just off of Kilmore Quay, we will take a private ferry over to the majestic landscape bustling with wildlife. The land is home to a wide variety of birds and puffin! Artists will have a chance to explore the island, sketch the birds, wildflowers, and sea creatures up close!
In the evening, we will make our way to the Hook Peninsula. The Peninsula is know for housing some of the most recognizable structures, such as the Loftus (Haunted) Castle, the Hook Lighthouse, Tintern Abbey and several other fascinating places. We will spend time hiking around the shore. Be on the lookout, the Hook Peninsula is also known for Whale and Dolphin sightings!
We head to Galway first thing in the morning for a farewell breakfast and coffee. Galway is a big town on the Western coast full of great shops, art galleries, and history. We will say our goodbyes and then you are welcome to explore the town of Galway at your leisure - take in some of the sites, attend a tour, visit the University, or boat our to the Aran Islands! You can take your time in the city and then hop the bus back to Dublin when you are ready!
As we sweep across the bottom half of Ireland, touring through several towns, castles, and abbeys along the way, we'll have the opportunity to see some of the most picturesque and colorful landscapes Ireland has to offer.
After a quick breakfast in the town of Waterford we'll continue on toward the city of Cobh. As we enter the city, you will see the colorful houses lining the harbor, fishing and sailboats, pubs, and churches. We will spend spend some time in town enjoying the fun shops and eateries.
As we make our way west, we will stop the stunning Rock of Cashel castle and church ruins. We will continue on our tour through the town of Limerick and then head to our final destination, Fanore, Co Clare, Ireland, where we have booked three nights at a cozy cottage right along the Western Coast with a view of the Atlantic ocean.
We will spend the day adventuring through County Clare and the Burren, a unique landscape and contrast to the rolling hills of central Ireland. It's mountainous, rocky landscapes shaped by the last Ice Age, filled with ancient castles, ruins, fairy forts, and fields of moss and wildflowers!
We will start the day with a walk through Burren Perfumery and Tea Room. After tea, we will make our way to the the Ailwee Caves & Bird's Of Prey Center where we will have a guided tour through the limestone cave and a flying display of birds of prey such as falcons, owls, and vultures.
We will spend the rest of the day exploring some of the oldest structures in Ireland dating back thousands of years.
We'll start the day with a nice coastal drive as we follow the Western shore heading towards the town of Doolin. Nearby is the Cliffs of Moher. The cliffs are one of the most stunning locations in all of Ireland, and we'll have time to walk the perimeter trail - The Burren Way.
We'll slowly make our way to Kilfenora, stopping several times as some cute locations. Kilfenora is know for its music, traditional Céilî dancing, and its Kilfenora Céili Band has been playing traditional music for over 100 years!
In the evening, we will learn how to Irish Set Dance at the traditional pub! This is one of the most incredible and inspiring dances to be a part of! The pub welcomes locals, experts, and newcomers alike. After a fun night of dancing, we will head back to the house for our farewell evening, artwork, board games, and packing.

The base price for this 6 day / 5 night trip includes transportation to-and-from the Dublin airport and during the program, lodging, and some supplies for our creative sessions, and all of the fun activities we'll host at the cabin!
LODGING & OUR HOME:
Our Art Camps are for individuals looking for an intimate, camp-like atmosphere!
We share a home together during our stay where we enjoy family-style meals, round-table discussions and lots of time bonding over activities in a shared space! We offer dormitory-style sleeping accommodations with 1 - 4 roommates. We have an assortment of sleeping options, and couples are encouraged to apply together in order for us to assign the most comfortable sleeping arrangements for all. Our trips are planned with budget in mind and we do our best to keep the cost down by choosing spaces & places that allow us to share resources on our journey!
This is a moderate-to-high activity level trip that includes plenty of outdoor hiking. Participants should be ready to explore on foot and a spend a reasonable amount of time outdoors. The average southern Ireland temperature in October is 50 degrees fahrenheit. We expect all types of weather, and will provide a packing list to participants in advance of the trip.
Flights are not included in the price of this program as people may be joining us from all over the country or beyond! We encourage people to look into flights to Idaho Falls, Idaho. Anyone wishing to spend more time in the area may also request information on other fun things to see while your'e in town, or recommendations on how to extend your trip!
