We'll wake up early and explore Osaka, with plenty of time to visit the plentiful arcades, manga shops, and ramen joints. After a quick visit to a cuddly cat cafe, we'll head to Osaka Castle Park where participants can take a chance to sketch the beautiful contrast of nature, metropolis, and tradition. For diner we'll demolish our share of conveyor belt sushi before heading home for a deserved night's rest.
Today we'll journey out to Sugi Gohei, a small local organic farm and artisanal restaurant created from the reclaimed remnants of an abandoned sake factory. We'll tour the grounds and visit with the friendly rabbits and goats before enjoying an incredible hand-crafted meal. Afterward, we'll say goodbye and return to Osaka for a night of heart-felt ballads in our own private karaoke room!
Speed is the name of the game as we hop on the Shinkansen (aka Bullet Train) and head south! We'll make a pitstop in Himeji to visit the massive and newly restored Himeji Castle, before continuing down to our final destination, Miyajima Island! Expect to be greeted by small friendly deer as you step off the ferry! We'll spend the night on Miyajima at a traditional onsen where you can bathe in the natural hot springs.
We'll have the entire day to explore Miyajima, home to the famous Itsukushima Shrine and the great Torii rising from the sea. We can visit the tiny local shops, tour the shrine, and climb to the top of Mount Misen. If we're lucky, we might get a glimpse of the rare wild monkeys who live there. When the sun starts to set, we'll ferry back to the mainland and head to Kobe, our home for the last leg of our journey.
Kobe offers a mix of culture, history, and nature, and we'll start with a trip to the Ikuta Shrine in the heart of the city. Nearby is Tokyu Hands, a one-stop shop for anything and everything you might want to get for friends and family. We'll head to the edge of the city, and hike up hike up winding, surreal backstreets to Mount Maya, and find the hidden waterfall before heading back to the city to say our final farewell!
