Light Grey Art Lab is located in the Whittier Neighborhood in Minneapolis, MN. We are nestled in a very creative neighborhood, directly across the street from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design and the Minneapolis Institute of Art. Since opening our doors in 2012, we have exhibited the work of thousands of illustrators, concept artists, typographers, designers, and artists from around the globe. We host monthly public art exhibitions, local workshops, visiting artist classes, lectures and podcasts, as well as lead creative adventures during the Light Grey Art Camp, Light Grey Art Camp International, and the Light Grey Iceland Residency Programs. Our mission is to connect creative people, collaborate, and make good things happen!
On a daily basis, there are local visitors and artists stopping by the gallery to look at art prints and originals. We have several hundred people visiting the gallery per month including the opening reception and events. All of the artwork is visible and available on our Light Grey Shop (shop.lightgreyartlab.com) where artist projects can be purchased from patrons and art lovers around the world. We are now seeking artists to participate in the Light Grey Artist Shop where we feature artist made collections, originals, zines, books, objects, and more - we want to celebrate and promote the things you do!
Thank you again for being a part of the community,
Here in the gallery, we have a dedicated space to stocking and showcasing artist-made works and wares for visitors to peruse and purchase. This area includes space on walls for hanging, both wall mounted and free-standing shelves, pedestals of various sizes, and tables for displaying anything you can think of. We're also open to ideas for new/custom display options!
We love showcasing all types of works and products, and we're always looking for new and exciting things to keep in-stock. We love having books, zines, anthologies, comics, home-goods, editioned prints, pins & patches, originals, small sculptures/trinkets, jewelry, games, and anything in between. Throughout the year, we offer open applications to consign new works and products in our Light Grey Shop. If you've made something wonderful or have a new collection of products that you would like to display and sell, we encourage you to apply!
Applications are reviewed monthly and are accepted on a rolling basis. In the application form linked on this page, we'll be asking for some information about who you are as a creative, some details and images of the work you're making, and what items you may be interested in consigning with us!
If your application is approved we'll reach out via email to finalize details!
If you have any questions about consignment send us a note: firstname.lastname@example.org
**Upon acceptance, James will send you the final consignment form and artist contract which must be completed within two weeks.
As always we truly wish we could work with each and every one of you, but unfortunately we don't have the space to accommodate that kind of an inventory. We try to do as much as we can, but we appreciate everybody who applies! You're all the best.
