Create, Concept, and Collaborate with Mike Yamada and Victoria Ying
August 30th-September 1st, 2013
We had the honor of inviting the incredibly talented and prolific artistic-duo, Mike Yamada and Victoria Ying, for a two day workshop on collaboration and visual development. During the workshop, Mike and Victoria led students through photoshop tutorials, portfolio building presentations, and provided in-the-industry guidance from their experience working at Dream Works and Disney Animation Studios. Students were able to work side-by-side with fellow participants, creating characters, worlds, and brainstorming on project ideas. Each person was also able to meet one-on-one with Mike and Victoria to discuss their portfolio, questions about practice, advice, and more.
The weekend was packed full of fueling brainstorm sessions, round table discussions, critique sessions, and a guest talk by local art director, Mike Linnemann. The weekend started off with a series of fun and interactive events: an artist talk and lecture by Mike and Victoria at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, followed by an All Creatives Meet & Greet at Glam Doll Donuts were local artists were able to meet-up, exchange ideas, and swap business cards.
