IT'S A NEW YEAR!!!
Our newest creative travel trip will take you deep into the Rocky Mountains where we've rented a cabin on the outskirts of the tiny mountain town, Ouray, Colorado! Over the 5 days / 4 nights, participants will get to experience a new perspective through a mixture of creative chats, inspiring places, and the thrill of adventuring!
What better way to ring in the new year than with a couple personal "firsts!" This area is home to our favorite selection of secret winter gems such as the Ouray Ice Park, an assortment of natural Hot Springs, and the abandoned Ghost Towns of Ironton! Each day we'll visit one or two of the area's inspiring places and find plenty of time for discussing the themes of the day over hot meals and great company.

• Wander through the Ice Park, where volunteers have transformed the Uncompahgre Gorge into over three miles of vertical terrain.

AND OF COURSE... Plenty of time for creative conversation, sketching the gorgeous surroundings, and tons of LGAL led activities!

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 31: New Beginnings & Accomplishments
Our first day is all about new beginnings and our chance to celebrate all of the good we've each done in 2015, and welcome the year ahead!
We'll pick everyone up in Ridgway*, Colorado at 3pm and give you the grand tour of our mountain home! We'll share the details of the next several days and hand out some fun surprises to everyone! We'll take a stroll down Perimeter trail and spend a moment exploring the town and taking in the scenery in Ouray before heading back home for a family-style dinner! At night we'll bust out the games and get ready for a night of hilarious antics & great times as we wait for the count-down to the New Year!

FRIDAY, JANUARY 1: Exploration!
Our second day is all about exploration! We'll have plenty of time for creative conversation over a breakfast and coffee and a few fun, creative challenges around the theme of exploratory practices. We'll share some of our favorite exploratory exercises and encourage participants to show us some of theirs! After lunch, we'll head out to visit the Ice Park, where participants can opt-in to learn how to scale the icy walls, or decide to explore the unique formations with their sketchbooks. In the evening, we'll treat ourselves with a well-deserved dip in the Hot Springs. At night, there will be plenty of free-time to chat around the fire, or catch a movie or games together in the main room.
SATURDAY, JANUARY 2: The Adventure!
We'll wake up early because today we're going on an adventure! After a nice breakfast, we'll pack our lunches, then drive down to another little mountain town called Telluride, where participants can get adventurous explore the city streets, shops, and culture, or continue to Telluride Ski Resort for a day on the slopes! We'll meet back up in Telluride city center and head back to home for a hot dinner and time to relax. We've got some adventure-themed movies, games, and creative activities in the queue for anyone that wants to stay up and continue the adventure!
SUNDAY, JANUARY 3: The History!
Today we're headed to the Ironton Ghost Town, where buildings from the 1800s stand amongst the silent forest. We'll learn about the mining town's past residents and the unique history of this 1880's village and Lindsay will share folkloric stories about the area and it's past. Participants will have a chance to enter the buildings, draw the structures, or explore the ruins to get a really intimate look at these old relics. After dinner, we'll share stories of our own mythologies over drinks, drawing, and dessert.
MONDAY, JANUARY 4: Onward!
All good things must come to an end, and today we'll go out with a bang with an amazing farewell breakfast and coffee. We'll head back to Ridgway to drop everyone off in time to catch the bus back to Montrose, where they can explore the city at their leisure until it's time to catch their plane home.

The Light Grey Art Camps are designed to be fun, full of inspiring adventures & creative challenges including fun creative discussions and activities, and a chance for us to see incredible spaces together and learn from each other!
The base price for this 5 day / 4 night trip is $625 and includes transportation to-and-from Ridgway, Colorado and during the program, meals, lodging, and some supplies for our creative sessions, as well as admission to the Hot Springs, our trips to the Ghost Town, Ice Park, Telluride, and all of the fun activities we'll host at the cabin!
The "Adventurer's" ticket price is $900 and covers all of the above, PLUS : A full-day pass for Telluride Ski Resort & Gear Rental (Skis, boots and helmet), and a 4.5 hour Ice Climbing session while we visit the Ice Park! ( Instruction and guiding with an AMGA certified guide; ice climbing equipment including boots, crampons, ice tools, harness, and helmet; and group gear including hardware and ropes.) TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE ADVENTURER'S TICKET, PLEASE SIGN UP BEFORE OCTOBER 31st (As our discounted rates for gear end that day!)
**It is not essential to know how to ice climb or ski if you'd like to try either while you are here! Beginners are encouraged to sign up for anything they'd like to try! Chris Hajny will provide a quick lesson at Telluride Ski Resort to anyone interested in skiing, and our Ice Climbing guide will walk everyone through all the steps for being safe and having fun while on the Ice!
**We will be sending additional information to each participant for how to catch the $5 bus from Montrose Airport to Ridgway (where we'll pick you up!) in case this is helpful! Schedules will be provided in advance to assist participants with timing their flights / meeting up with the rest of the team! All packing information will also be sent to each participant upon sign-up!
LODGING & OUR HOME:
Our Art Camps are for individuals looking for an intimate, camp-like atmosphere!
We share a home together during our stay where we enjoy family-style meals, round-table discussions and lots of time bonding over activities in a big main-room! We offer dormitory-style sleeping accommodations with 1 - 4 roommates. We do have an assortment of sleeping options, and couples are encouraged to apply together in order for us to assign the most comfortable sleeping arrangements for all. We do have a very small number of air-mattress/ sleeping bag accommodations available for individuals that would like to save a couple dollars on their trip, for $575. Our trips are planned with budget in mind and we do our best to keep the cost down by choosing spaces & places that allow us to share resources on our journey!
The LGAL team prepares family-style meals each day for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and snacks will be available at the cabin as well! Those wishing to pick up a couple special things will have access to both a liquor store and a grocery store during their stay! They are both just down the way!
*** This trip does contain a moderate amount of walking, so participants should be ready to explore on foot. The average Colorado temperature in December is 35 degrees fahrenheit, so please pack accordingly. Skiing and Climbing are optional for those that wish to participate in a more athletic version of our daily excursions, but it is not required that someone participate in either activity to have a good time! The base ticket offers outings have been catered for those people that would prefer to have a more cultural experience than an active one! If you are interested in participating in either the day pass for skiing or the half-day climbing pass, please choose the Adventure ticket option in your request.
If you would like to do one of the adventure options, but not both, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org and we can send a custom Paypal request to you for one rental fee or the other!
There will be some optional activities when we reach Ouray, which may include renting snow-shoes, ice-skating, or cross-country skis for anyone interested. Information on rentals will be available on the first day, and do not require booking in advance.
If you are interested in skiing or ice-climbing, please book before October 31st, as our discounted rate is only available through this date.
Flights are not included in the price of this program as people may be joining us from all over the country or beyond!
We encourage people to look into flights to Montrose, Colorado. If you would like to join us and need additional help with itinerary times, please feel free to reach out! We will provide instructions for all participants on how to catch the Roadrunner Stage Lines bus (a $5 ticket each way) from Montrose to Ridgway, to help make it easy for you to meet up with us! Anyone wishing to spend more time in the area may also request information on other fun things to see while your'e in town, or recommendations on how to extend your trip!
